Hey everyone,
how is your writing going?
I’ve been busy working on my YA historical novel. I’m at about 35,000 words with a goal of 50k by end of April. This means I have to write about 1600 words a day until the month ends!
Let me tell you, I am struggling.
So far, what’s hardest for me in working on this novel is, writing about difficult topics like slavery. As a white person, it’s hard for me to know if I’m hitting the right notes – rather than being insensitive and not diving deep enough, or waxing poetical and being tacky. I’m realizing how little I know. It’s a learning experience and I think it’s going to help me grow as a person.
How are your projects going?
Poetry Chapbook
I wonder if anyone here is working on poetry such as a chapbook, and if so, if you have any tips tor me? I’d like to publish a poetry chapbook. Most of my poems are already ready. What is the revision or editing process for a poetry book? I wonder if traditional poetry publishing is done often anymore?
If you’ve published a poetry chapbook, do you recommend traditional or self-publishing? Please share in the comments!
Until next time,
Chaitanya
