Hey everyone,
Welcome to National Novel Writing Month, 2021. Writers, both published and un-published, try to write a 50k word novel in November. But sometimes, writers are busy revising finished works; finishing drafts, like me; or work on screenplays, fanfiction, etc.
What I love about NaNoWriMo is how writing becomes less lonely. I suddenly have a huge group of people all over the world writing alongside me. It’s wonderful to be able to see other writers going through it, struggling with outlines, plotholes, unruly characters, etc.
Another reason I love NaNoWriMo is because it helps motivate me to keep chugging along. If I’m discouraged, or haven’t been writing, NaNoWriMo gets me writing daily. Adding to that daily word count feels so good! And knowing that others may be watching helps hold me accountable.
What’s more, the feeling when you DO win is so good! I’ve won twice now, once years ago and one Camp NaNoWriMo, and having that certificate pop up felt so lovely. I did a happy dance and felt good about myself for days after. I still have it saved on my computer desktop.

And here are some of my favorite resources from the NaNo website:

Until next time,
Chaitanya
